These reports offer an insight into the efforts of the municipalities and organizations to preserve traditions and at the same time meet the needs of residents and visitors. Here are the most important current reports from the Lötschental.

Bus Service: Lauchernalp to Fafleralp
Between June 27, 2026, and October 25, 2026, a public transportation service will be introduced between Lauchernalp and Fafleralp.
Faldumalp / Kummenalp Hiking Bus
Due to positive customer feedback, the hiking bus to Faldum and Kummenalp will again be offered this summer from Monday, July 4, through October 11, 2026 (with the option to extend). The following daily departures are scheduled:
Very high risk of wildfires
General Ban on Outdoor Fires
A general ban on outdoor fires is in effect immediately throughout the entire canton. This also applies to the setting off of fireworks. The public is urged to strictly comply with the instructions of local authorities and to do everything possible to ensure that our forests, meadows, fallow lands, alpine pastures, and residential areas are spared from fires.
Traffic disruptions and road closures
Due to construction work on the "Tschäggätuhuis" apartment building (Parcel 79) in Wiler, there will be several traffic disruptions and temporary road closures in the coming weeks.
Start of Repair Work on the Avalanche Barrier in Faldum, BLS Netz AG
On Monday, June 29, 2026, ABA Bautec AG will begin repair work on the Faldum avalanche barrier on behalf of BLS Netz AG. As a first step, various walking excavator operations are planned on dilapidated and unstable dry stone walls located near the road. The locations of the work are shown on the map in the appendix (B3.2). This will cause disruptions on the hiking and biking trail between the “Faldumtörli” and “Uistre Bärg” areas.
Update on the Oigschtchummun Glacier
The municipality of Blatten announces: The cantonal road between Blatten and Fafleralp will be opened to motor vehicles with restrictions on Friday, June 26, 2026. Monitoring of the Oigschtchummun Glacier will be stepped up, and two traffic light systems will be installed. A restricted zone will be established south of the Lonza between Chiematt and Fafleralp. The hiking trail between Eisten (Geriin) and Fafleralp will remain closed.
Closure of the Wiler-Tärra-Weissenried hiking trail
During an inspection of the suspension bridge over the Tännbach, significant changes in the ground were discovered at the bridge's foundations. As a result, specialists were commissioned to check the statics and safety of the suspension bridge. The specialists attested that the Tännbach has severely undermined the western slope of the trench as a result of the current snowmelt and that the western abutments of the bridge are destabilized by a landslide.
Update on the passability of the emergency and rescue route
The municipality of Blatten announces: Paving work on the emergency and rescue route between Netzbord, Weissenried, and Blatten is progressing faster than planned. As a result, we need to make a slight adjustment to the road closure schedule. The planned traffic arrangements for the Netzbord–Weissenried section will be moved up from June 15 to June 11.
