Closure of the Wiler-Tärra-Weissenried hiking trail
During an inspection of the suspension bridge over the Tännbach, significant changes in the ground were discovered at the bridge's foundations. As a result, specialists were commissioned to check the statics and safety of the suspension bridge. The specialists attested that the Tännbach has severely undermined the western slope of the trench as a result of the current snowmelt and that the western abutments of the bridge are destabilized by a landslide.
It can be assumed that post-erosion on the western slope, another flood event or a smaller debris flow could further destabilize the suspension bridge and cause it to collapse. The suspension bridge is no longer safe to walk on. For this reason, by mutual agreement between the municipalities of Blatten and Wiler, the bridge will be closed to all crossings with immediate effect.
