“A view that has to be earned"

Technical and steep trails, but a breathtaking view of the Hockenhorn awaits you on this route. Before tackling the ascent of the Hockenhorn, you can take a break at the Lötschenpass hut. Good physical condition and sure footedness are recommended.

The first 150m of ascent along the chairlift from the cableway to the Stafel is fairly steep. To reach Mälchenerbeden at 2288m, you turn right below the Berghaus and walk through beautiful countryside. The path then becomes flat again, then a steeper terrain with 200 elevation attends you to reach Sattel. From here, you can see over the hill to Kummenalp. The 5 minutes to Hockuchriz are well worth it for a magnificent view. Then the route becomes fairly technical until you reach the Lötschenpass, where a magnificent view of the Bietschhorn and a magical atmosphere await you. Beat and his team warmly welcome you for a delicious meal in the hut which was built in 1955 and renovated in 2008. For cheesecake lovers, the apple cheesecake is a real treat! The ascent to the Hockenhorn follows the blue-marked path and cairns. A sure footedness is recommended. At the top, all the effort is rewarded with a breathtaking view! The return journey to the Lötschenpass hut takes the same route. Then you'll reach Kummenalp 700m further down, via the lake. At Kummenalp, a magnificent sunny terrace and good refreshments await you. This is followed by the last good hilly stretch to Lauchernalp.
