Roads closed - paths partially closed
The municipality of Blatten informs:
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the roads in the municipality of Blatten are still closed. Some of the hiking trails are not yet open because there is still snow. The hiking trail Eisten (from Geriin) - Kühmatt - Fafleralp is closed for the time being.
The municipality of Blatten will provide information on Fri, 15.05.2026 about the use of the emergency road, the opening of the hiking trails and access to the intact buildings.
The natural hazard specialists are currently working on various hazard analyses. The aim is to correctly assess the dangers on the small Nesthorn, along the watercourses (especially the Lonza) and on the Oigschtchummun glacier.
The emergency road is closed because construction work has resumed. Suitcase is being brought in and preparations for the surfacing work are underway. The NG24 cantonal road between Blatten and Fafleralp will also remain closed until the canton of Valais opens the road.
Many hiking trails in the rear Lötschental are currently still inaccessible. As soon as the snow has melted, the paths will be cleared or repaired on an ongoing basis. The aim is to have the entire trail network available at the start of the hiking season at the beginning of June. The hiking trail between Eisten (from Geriin) via Kühmatt to Fafleralp is closed for the time being.
We thank you for your understanding and ask you to respect the respective closures and follow the instructions of the municipality.
