Tip from the author
In ″Riedhaltu", between ″Zubenbach″ and ″Gafenbach″ above the village of Kippel , is the Riedhaltä Bird Sanctuary. A path runs through this area, which offers a perfect chance to see and hear native bird species. The best time for a tour of the Lötschental bird species is from the end of April to June.
Ornithologists can purchase a book on native species from the Lötschental Tourist Information Office, www.loetschental.ch/webshop or from all of the hotels in the Lötschental for CHF 10.00. The book ist currently only available in German.
Arrival
Public transport
From Gampel-Steg or Goppenstein, the PostBus will take you to Wiler, cable car.
Journey
From Goppenstein, drive into the Lötschental valley to Wiler. From there, the Wiler-Lauchernalp cable car takes you to the starting point of the hike in 5 minutes.
Parking
You can park your car at the cable car in Wiler (fee required).
