Infos for arrival (Check-In)
By public transport: Lauchernalp is very well connected and can be easily reached by train from all directions. The Lötschberger regional express runs hourly from Bern and Brig. From Goppenstein station, there is a direct PostBus service to the valley station of the cable car. By car: From the north via Bern, Spiez and the Kandersteg–Goppenstein rail-to-road transfer From the south via Gampel/Steg to Goppenstein and on to Wiler. Summer – drive up to the chalet In summer, you can drive right up to the chalet and park there. At the cable car station, you can purchase an access permit to use the private road to Laucheralp for 3 days (CHF 10) or 1 week (CHF 30). This must be displayed clearly under the windscreen whilst driving up the access road and whilst parked at Lauchernalp. Coming from Goppenstein, the access road to Laucheralp is located at the edge of Wiler, in a sharp left-hand bend, and is signposted ‘Lauchernalp’. It is a single-lane, winding road – watch out for oncoming traffic. Once you have crossed the Millibach and the first houses of Laucheralp come into view, take the first right-hand turn and drive the final 100 metres along a gravel track until you reach the Alora. Winter – Parking at the cable car In winter, the cable car is the only way to reach Lauchernalp. There are usually plenty of parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the valley station. Once you arrive at the mountain station, it’s just a 300-metre or 5-minute walk to Chalet Alora. For travellers with a lot of luggage, the cable car operatesa luggage delivery service. At the valley station, luggage is loaded into mesh crates, which are then suspended beneath the cable car and transported to the chalets at the top of Lauchernalp by snow groomers. This service is very convenient and is particularly recommended if you have a lot of luggage, there is heavy snow, or you are holidaying with young children. A mesh box costs CHF 50 (2015/16 price). However, thanks to Chalet Alora’s convenient location, you can also carry your luggage up to the chalet in winter, provided you are suitably equipped (no wheeled suitcases).
