In May 1997, the charitable Blatten/Lötschental Foundation was established with over 70 benefactors - since then the foundation family has grown even larger.
Due to the massive structural changes in agriculture, the village infrastructure is increasingly becoming unused. The consequences are there for all to see - old houses, barns and stalls are becoming dilapidated. Renovation is costly and requires architectural expertise. For agricultural buildings that belong to more than 16 owners (communities of heirs) this very often means unstoppable dilapidation.
