Sheep-sorting

Thursday 19.09. - Friday 20.09.2019

Programm

Together with organic farmer Daniel Ritler from the Lötschental we hike from the Fafleralp to the Anenhütte (about 2.5 hours pure running time). On the way there we make a short stop at the "dirty restaurant". This is a special place that is almost exclusively known by locals and where there is usually a bottle of "holy water". There we learn from Dani interesting facts about his organic lamb breeding and the magical Lötschental. Dinner and overnight stay in the Anenhütte, 2358 meters above sea level. It is considered to be the most exclusive hut of the
Alpen, lies in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage and is the only private and self-sufficient high alpine mountain hut.
Friday, early in the morning, we go with the Sandern in small groups to the Anen area around the Jegichnubel, where the sheep stay.
Supported by herding dogs, about 700 sheep have to be rounded up and led down to Fafleralp. Not an easy task, but an exciting one. The young, mountain-going Sander comb the sometimes enormously steep terrain in search of the scattered animals that do not like to leave the summer alp.
The two-day excursion ends at Fafleralp, where Karin Ritler from the Genusshof shop spoils the participants with a regional 3-course organic menu. An adventure of a special kind, simply magical and with a 100% experience guarantee.
