Wiler (Lötschen)
Organizer:
The Lötschental carnival is a lively and traditional festival that takes place every year between Candlemas and Ash Wednesday. The carnival here is known for its unique custom of the Tschäggättu. The Tschäggättä impress both locals and guests with their larva (mask), fur and bell. In the evening, when it gets dark, they walk from village to village. You can meet the Tschäggättä and also Fuigini (people in disguise) in the villages or in the restaurants and bars in the Lötschental.
